About the Author
Born and raised in New York, Ariel Bar Tzadok studied in Jerusalem under many of the finest Sephardi Kabbalists of the previous generation. In June 1983, Rabbi Bar Tzadok received his Rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Ya aqob Peretz, Rosh Yeshiva of Kollel Hekhal Pinhas. While studying at Hekhal Pinhas, Rabbi Bar Tzadok was blessed by Heaven to become the private student of the renown Kabbalist, Rabbi Meir Levi zt l, the foremost student of the Head Kabbalist of Jerusalem, Rabbi Mordechai Sharabi zt l. The Rav officially established his Yeshiva in 1992 to address the growing concerns of spiritual misguidance and misinformation that is pervasive in the Jewish community at large. The Yeshiva has since grown, to include a Collel for the private study of Kabbalah. Students around the world access the Rav s teachings through his website www.koshertorah.com. This Is The Real Thing, Folks

If you want true JEWISH Kabbalah, this is it. It doesn't get any more authentic than this. Rav Ariel Bar Tzadok is eminently qualified to teach this subject, having been a student of the mekubalim (kabbalaists)in Israel and elsewhere in a long tradition going back to such luminaries as the Arizal and the Rashash.

I was puzzled as to why there were so many small typos, however. Nothing that takes away from the ancient texts, which Rav Bar Tzadok has thankfully photocopied (in the original Hebrew), but the English translations and explanations have quite a few editing errors. "To" instead of "two" for example, missing words, mispelled words, etc. These are frequent enough throughout the book that it can jar the reader "out" of the meditative state briefly.

Perhaps there will someday be a second edition of this work with a more thorough editing job.

All in all, it's a fantastic, amazing book, NOT to be missed. There is no where else in one place for the English reader to find all of these ancient Jewish texts, prayers, meditations, segulot, etc. from the TRUE ancient Jewish Kabbalists. This book is invaluable, a priceless treasure. Rav Bar Tzadok doesn't just reproduce the ancient texts here, he translates them AND teaches how to properly make use of them as well. The Rav has done a beautiful kiddush HaShem and the entire world a GREAT service by publishing and translating these ancient Jewish works. May it reach all those who would make proper use of it for its purpose.

Great Book - loaded with accurate insights into Kabballah

This is a great book for both the student and the advanced Kabbalist.
It is packed with insights into the methodolgy of Kabbalah study and practice.
All of the teachings are Kosher in that they are in line with orthodox jewish thought, and the Rambam's 13 principles of faith. The author emulates the Rambam and Abulafia by integrating science and Kabbalah for a unified description of our world and the other dimensions. If you are looking to understand real Kabballah, this is the book.
The more knowledge you have of Kabballah before reading this book, the more you will
appreciate the depth of this work.

Fantastic Book

I was surprised to see that this had such a low rating because it's one of the best books I have found on Kabbalah in English. It's a shame that one review can bring the rating down so far, but that's the way the system works. Anyways, I ordered this because it is the **ONLY** book in English to provide this version of the Goralot, which is different from the Providence Press translation of Sefer ha-Goralot (of the two I prefer this one). But this book also has so much more besides that. With so few quality books of kabbalah in English, this stands out as uniquely powerful and *authentic*. Highly recommended.

Invaluable. Has been my number one recommendation. Has helped a lot.

I read this before my first professional TV job for TLC. I was nervous of course because I don't know a lot and didn't know what to expect. This book was extremely helpful with that. It really gives you info you would never get from other production books. For example, I read about walkie-talkie etiquitte in the book, but I didn't think a lot of it until I my first day on set and was given a walkie. Since I bought the kindle version of the book and read that section again during a break. Huge help. I was helping one of the producers figure it out by day two.
The only negative is that the search on the kindle is not great. It was hard to find things that I was searching for. If I had time I would probably go back and read the printed version and take tons of notes.
If you are starting out in the industry, even if you went to film school, pick up this book. It really helps with the small details people do not usually tell you about, but if you do them they will remember how helpful you were.

Production Assistant Gold

As someone relatively new to the film world and who has been essentially figuring things out as I go, working mostly low budget and grad student work, reading Friedman's book was both incredibly informative and a tool I will definitely be using to advance to a higher level of film with a much vaster knowledge of a PA's range of potential duties. He addresses everything from the hierarchy of crew positions to walkie-talkie etiquette to the vital PA skill of how to make a proper cup of coffee. Each topic he discusses has both a practical and personal application to his own experience. Every piece of paperwork you will ever touch is in there (and directions as to how they are filled out), as well as on-set lingo, prep tools, descriptions of how to interview and find a job, and lots of other advice that you can't get from anyone who hasn't really been in the trenches. Anyone even considering breaking into the film world should absolutely read this book. It couldn't even hurt for actors to take a look so that they really know what goes on behind the scenes.

Getting it Done: The best Production Assistant Guide on the Market

This book is perfect for those brave souls who want to jump head first into the world of the production assistant, which is the lowest rung on the Hollywood production ladder. Joshua Friedman gives the readers an excellent walk through of everything a production assistant will EVER go through on a typical show or movie. I have read different film production how-to books in the past, but Josh does something that those books never properly explained: he shows how every production department is intertwined with one another, which departments interact with the PA the most, and how each of those departments affect the PA's job for the day. Every department is touched upon, from escorting the actors/actresses to hair and make up to asking the Teamsters for a ride to Starbucks for a coffee run, to getting tricked by the Grip department to helping them lift and pull heavy items.

Josh goes into so much detail for the entire world of film production in this book, he even has appendixes dedicated to the different production reports you will look at on a daily basis! He gives you sample call sheets, petty cash vouchers, and production reports to study so that way, when you first walk on set, you already know what you're doing. My favorite section of the book was the career section, where he shows you everything you need to know about getting a PA job and keeping it. This section was valuable to me because it showed me the different pay rates, realistic time line to move up the production ladder, and the proper way to create a resume for a PA. This section, along with the various appendixes he has of sample reports, was worth the money alone.

This book is an excellent tool for anyone who wants to enter the production world as a PA. Josh will show you proper etiquette on set, how to work a walkie talkie, even how to act around talent! This book has really helped me out in my search for a PA position in Hollywood and I would recommend this book for anyone who is serious about entering this world. My journey into this PA world is about to begin, and I will keep this book by my side as a roadmap through the crazy world of production.

Wonderful book!

So many people asked Gadadhara Pandit Dasa what it's like to be a Hindu monk in New York that he wrote a book about it. And what a great book it is! Pandit, as he is known at Columbia, is the Hindu chaplain at the University. He has been a generous friend of mine and supporter of my work at the Graduate School of Journalism. In "Urban Monk," he deals frankly, openly and often humorously with the challenges of devoutly following a minority religion in New York. Pandit is uniquely qualified to explain Hinduism to an American audience since he was reared in the U.S. and only later went to India to study his faith. He writes about wearing an orange robe, living in the village (across from a gay bar and funeral home) and being on Facebook. And he delicately weaves in numerous lessons about Hindu beliefs such as reincarnation and karma. This is a great introduction to Hinduism from a person who lives its lessons every day. It is a wonderful book!

Time to Celebrate!

There's a famous joke that goes something like this:

A new monk arrives at a monastery and is assigned to help the other monks copy old texts by hand. After a while, the novice realizes that they are all merely copying copies of the ancient texts -- they are not working from the original books.

So, the new monk asks the monk in charge why this is so. The novice points out that if there was an error in one of the early copies, it would necessarily be replicated in all the newer ones. Listening intently, the head monk replies, "We have been copying from copies for centuries, but you make a good point, my child. Let me look into this."

So, the senior monk goes down into the cellar with one of the copies to check it against the original. Hours pass, and he doesn't return. So, one of the monks goes downstairs to see if he can locate him. Approaching the cellar of old manuscripts, he hears sobbing and cursing. As he enters, he finds the old monk leaning over one of the original books crying piteously, and so he asks what's wrong.

"The word is 'celebrate' not 'celibate,'" says the old monk, as he continues to weep.

Well, there's little weeping in Pandit's book. In fact, there is reason to celebrate. Here, in honest, straightforward language, we learn what it means to be a "Hindu" monk, particularly of the Gaudiya Vaishnava persuasion. Moving beyond the stereotype of the Hare Krishna cult member, Pandit sensitively and accurately shows his readers what life is like "on the other side," how life is lived when one devotes full time to God (Krishna). Pandit is to be congratulated for his honesty -- he doesn't gloss over personal confusion, doubts, and weaknesses. Rather, he explores them and gives (scriptural and practical) advice on how to conquer them. As someone who is not Hindu, a monk, or living in New York City, this book was impossible to put down. Pandit writes with an easy, personable, and highly relevant style that is both informative and poignant. His story is truly incredible, and as a 20-something choosing their next steps, very relevant and inspiring. The book not only helped answer my own questions about Hinduism, but provided a guide for the big questions, from family to love and sex to how to remain calm and peaceful in our crazy, day-to-day lives. Useful introduction to Market Profile / would prefer real life trade examples that benefit from the concepts

I was new to the subject of Market Profile. This book helped me understand the concepts pretty well.

As the book explained, market profile does not give buy/sell signals. However, the book also stated that market profile can be used to improve trade result / fine tuning entry/exit/stop.

It would be nice to include actual trade examples on how this can be accomplished. Including entry/exit/stop data on specific instrument on specific trades.
